Setting up the scanner intent in DataWedge

  1. Open DataWedge

App drawer → DataWedge. You land on the Profiles list.

  2. Create a profile (recommended over editing Profile0)

Tap the ⋮ menu (top right) → New profile → name it CadacusWMS → OK. Then tap the new profile in the list to open it.

If you’d rather not create one, just tap Profile0 and skip to step 4 — but Profile0 applies to every unassigned app on the device.

  3. Associate the WMS app

Inside the profile, tap Associated apps → ⋮ menu → New app/activity → pick the Handheld WMS app package → then select the asterisk * to cover all activities.

  4. Confirm the profile is on

Back on the profile screen, make sure Profile enabled is checked at the top.

  5. Barcode Input

Tap it, confirm Enabled is checked. Set Scanner selection to Auto. Under Decoders, tick any symbologies you scan that aren’t on by default (Code 128, Code 39, and UPC/EAN are usually enabled already).

  6. Keystroke Output — turn OFF

Scroll to Keystroke output and uncheck Enabled. This is the real equivalent of the doc’s “Keyboard Emulation → Intent” step. Leaving it on sends the scan as keystrokes and as an intent, which usually produces doubled data in the WMS fields.

  7. Intent Output — turn ON

Scroll to Intent output and check Enabled, then set:

    FieldValue
    Intent actionScan
    Intent categoryCadacusWMS
    Intent deliveryBroadcast intent

Both values are case sensitive — type them exactly. Leave Intent component / package / class blank; those only apply to Start Activity or Start Service delivery.

  8. Exit

Press the back button until you’re out. DataWedge saves as you go — there is no Save button.

Testing it: Launch the WMS app, put the cursor in a scan field, and pull the trigger. Data should land in the field instantly and complete, not character by character.

If nothing arrives, the two usual causes are the app package not being associated with the profile (step 3), or the EMDK build of the app being installed instead of the standard one — the EMDK version talks to the scanner directly and ignores intents entirely.
